Special events
December 10 2025, 7:30 pm- Write for Rights (online) – Greeting Cards to Prisoners of Conscience. December 10th is celebrated globally as Human Rights Day, and Amnesty’s biggest annual letter-writing campaign (“Write for Rights”) happens in communities around the world on and around December 10th. At our December meeting we’ll write letters and send greeting cards to Prisoners of Conscience from the Write for Rights campaign. Our chapter runs a low-key online meetup that contributes to the high impacts and outcomes of this campaign. For W4R newbies: Amnesty chooses around a dozen cases each year that could really benefit from a massive global spotlight. Even where a prisoner of conscience is not freed, there have been cases upon a later release where they have spoken to suddenly getting medications they were needing around this time. It lets people know the world indeed cares and is watching. If you are interested, get in touch and we will send you an invite leading up to the date. 🙂
June 13 (Saturday), 2026 at 5:00 pm – Annual Fundraising Picnic (in-person). Our annual fundraising dinner is held at the home of one of our members, and features great food and drink and good company! For details, please contact Wilf at deerspring1[at]gmail[dot]com.
